Od okamžiku, kdy jsou obě svíce stejně vysoké (po 2 h), dohoří zbytek 1. svíce za 3,5-2=1,5h a stejně vysoký zbytek 2. svíce za 5-2=3h. Označím si výšku zbytku v a pak výška cele svíce 1 (x)=v+4/3v a výška celé svíce 2 (y)=v+2/3v. A poměr x/y pak činí 7:5.
